Profile: Martin County enjoys a reputation for quality of life, natural beauty and environmental stewardship. Still relatively uncrowded, the county offers numerous outdoor recreational opportunities and charmingly renovated towns and villages with limited but sophisticated shopping and dining.

Unique Challenges: Like many small, semirural counties with limited tourist-development budgets, Martin County must compete against the huge corporate and municipal tourism campaigns of Florida's mega-attractions, such as Orlando and Miami. Martin County offers a wide array of amenities, from the beachfront to Lake Okeechobee, but it lacks the "real" attractions that the major destinations use for marketing. Additionally, Martin County lacks a three-star or higher hotel designation. The campaign brands the county as a natural vacation destination, creating a drive market from South Florida as well as continuing to identify opportunities to create consumer interest on a national and international level.
